VAT reduction from February. For what?
From the beginning of February there will be a temporary reduction of VAT rates. It will cover among others fuels, autogas, heat and electricity.
– The rate for fuel will drop from 23 to 8%, for electricity the rate will still be 5% (this is an extension of this preference), the rate for heat will be 5%. This is the effect of the Anti-inflation Shield 2.0 passed by the Sejm on 13 January and submitted to the Senate. In addition, the same law will allow the application of 0% VAT on food (to which a rate of 5% is currently applied) natural gas, fertilisers and selected products used in agriculture. The reductions will unfortunately not be permanent. The period of validity, as assumed by the Shield, is 6 months, so from 1 February to the end of July 2022. It must be remembered that the new rates will also have to be introduced in fiscal cash registers – explains Grzegorz Arczewski, tax advisor, manager at Thedy & Partners.
