Today is the last day to change from a lump-sum to a PIT scale
Entrepreneurs paying lump-sum tax on registered incomes, who want to change their settlement method with the treasury into the PIT scale, have to send the appropriate notification to the tax office no later than today, 22 August.
The possibility of changing the method of taxation during the year has been provided for by the Polish Deal 2.0, which has been in force since the beginning of July. However, in order to pay PIT in the second half of 2022 on the basis of the scale instead of a flat rate, it is necessary to notify the tax office of this fact.
The Ministry of Finance emphasises in its publications that an entrepreneur changing the method of settlement when taxing income earned in the second half of the year will benefit from the full free amount (PLN 30 thousand), the 12 per cent rate (reduced from 17 per cent) and will apply the 32 per cent rate only after exceeding income of PLN 120 thousand (the threshold limit increased from PLN 85 528).
– It should also be remembered that the change of taxation during the year will mean that taxpayers will have to keep different records than before, e.g. with the PIT scale it will be a tax book of income and expenses. In addition, the settlement for 2022 will have to be made on two forms – PIT-28 for the lump sum for the first part of the year and PIT-36 for the second part, reminds Adam Allen, tax adviser, partner at Thedy & Partners.
