The maximum Real Estate Tax rates will increase
From 1 January 2022, an increase in the maximum Real Estate Tax rates, which are set out in the provisions of the Local Taxes and Fees Act, is expected. This is a result of an increase in inflation.
– The increase will obviously cover all local taxes and fees. Their amount is determined on the basis of the inflation index. The President of the Central Statistical Office has just reported that inflation in the first half of 2021 was 3.6% – this is 0.3% less than in 2020, hence increases should be expected. For example, entrepreneurs will pay PLN 0,04 more per square metre for land from next year. The rate on buildings used for business will be higher by PLN 0.90 per square metre. However, it should be remembered that we are talking here about the maximum rates of Real Estate Tax, which are determined annually by the Minister of Finance. These, however, may be lowered by decisions of individual municipal councils – explains Piotr Kalemba, tax advisor, senior manager cooperating with Thedy & Partners.
