Increase in local taxes now certain
As of January 1, 2022, the maximum rates of local taxes, including the Real Estate Tax on business activity, will increase.
This is the result of the publication of a notice of 22 July 2021 on upper limits of the rates of local taxes and charges for 2022 (M.P. item 724) issued by the Minister of Finance.
– The rates announced by the Minister show that the increase will amount to 3.6%. This is a result of an increase in inflation and its index published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS), about which we have already informed. Of course, whether the increase will take place in a given municipality depends on the individual councils of local government units. The Minister sets the maximum rates. The municipal councils may by way of resolution set the rates at a different, lower level – reminds Piotr Kalemba, tax advisor, manager cooperating with Thedy & Partners.
According to the MF’s announcement, the maximum rate of the Real Estate Tax on buldings connected with business activity will be 25.74 PLN per square metre from next year. Today it is 24.84 PLN.
Next year’s increase will cover all maximum rates of taxes and local fees.
