Vaccine lottery prizes without PIT
The Minister of Finance has issued a regulation which exempts prizes received in the vaccine lottery from income tax. The exemption applies also to prizes whose value exceeds PLN 2280. This means that a prize even in the amount of 1 million PLN will be tax-free.
– This regulation is to complement the statutory solutions, which exempt from PIT one-off prizes in promotional lotteries whose value is lower than PLN 2 280. Consequently, all prizes received in the “National Vaccination Program Lottery” will be exempt from income tax, i.e. both instant prizes (PLN 200, PLN 500) and prizes in the form of scooters, cars or cash (PLN 50,000, PLN 100,000 or even PLN 1 million),” points out Adam Allen, tax adviser, partner at Thedy & Partners.
The regulation will come into force on 14 July 2021.
