The legislator’s dialogue with entrepreneurs is a good direction for change
Slim VAT 3 is another project in the saga of packages oriented towards streamlining VAT settlements, or sealing the existing VAT collection system. As the name itself seems to indicate, the aim of the 'Slim VAT' saga is to simplify and eliminate excessive formalisms, or to 'slim down' the VAT Act from regulations which have so far constituted an excessive burden for VAT taxpayers," Grzegorz Arczewski, tax advisor and senior manager at Thedy & Partners, writes in Rzeczpospolita.
The previous two packages, perhaps apart from the revolution in the rules for settling corrective VAT invoices – to which, as with any systemic change, one has to get used to – have been received rather positively by taxpayers.
The third in the ‘Slim’ trilogy of packages – although traditionally delayed in relation to the original announcements – offers taxpayers a number of changes that should be assessed as positive. Some of them, are purely formal changes, e.g. thresholds that have not been raised for years and, in times of rampant inflation, such action is justified.
