The fiscal burden on business is still being weighed
The Ministry of Finance is considering withdrawing from the increase to 9% of the health contribution for entrepreneurs. According to media information, it would amount to 4.8%.
Such changes are to be introduced to the draft amendment of tax laws under the Polish Order programme, which is to be dealt with today by the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers. The package of tax modifications is to be the subject of Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, and is to go to the Sejm on 15 September.
– This is the plan, but whether it will be realised is hard to say. Certainly, limiting the increase of the health contribution would be a step in the right direction. The planned increase of the contribution, as well as many other ideas for tax changes included in the Polish Order, arouse great controversy – points out Michał Thedy, tax advisor, partner at Thedy & Partners.
At the same time, he adds: “All these quite revolutionary changes would come into force already on 1 January 2022. Assuming that work on them will last practically until the last possible moment (amendment of income tax regulations, especially if they are unfavourable for taxpayers, must be published in the Journal of Laws by 30 November of the previous year), entrepreneurs will once again be put in a very difficult situation. Not only have they been struggling for nearly two years with the effects of the pandemic restrictions, but they will also be faced with an increased fiscal burden, and they will only have a month to prepare for these novelties.
