Rzeczpospolita ranking: Thedy & Partners with spectacular results
Thedy & Partners is among the largest and best tax advisory firms, as many as five partners of our firm have won individual awards, our website has been recognized as one of the three best in Poland. And the last, spectacular success is the first prize for the landmark judgments of the Supreme Administrative Court in the area of procedural law - according to the 16th Rzeczpospolita Ranking of Tax Advisory Firms.
– This year’s ranking is exceptional for our firm. We advanced in general categories, i.e. assessing the size of the firm – in terms of revenue we are 4 places higher. Also in the category of the number of tax advisors we are two places higher than last year, taking 13th position. This is a credit to the entire Thedy & Partners team. Our experience and commitment, but also the consistent development of our firm, hiring new specialists, investing in education and working tools mean that clients want to work with us. It is thanks to them that we can boast such results today’, comments Michał Thedy, managing partner of Thedy & Partners, on the results of the Ranking.
The Chapter of the Ranking and other tax advisors also recognised, yet another year in a row, the individual merits of Thedy & Partners’ experts.
Lesław Mazur was recognized as the Best Tax Advisor in the Tax Litigation category. The award in this category was given for developing an innovative way to support taxpayers in recovering tax refunds due to them (mainly VAT), held by the authorities without a legal basis.
– We are very pleased with this distinction in the ranking. Tax proceedings are multidimensional, complicated, and winning a case requires a lot of intellectual effort. I am glad that we can successfully represent and support our clients, and that our victories have a ground-breaking aspect, influencing the line of jurisprudence, and at the same time the Chapter of the Ranking recognises this effort and rewards it,’ emphasises Lesław Mazur.
Also Michał Nielepkowicz once again received the title of the Best Tax Advisor in the category of real estate tax. In this area the chapter noticed the effort put in property tax reviews in several hundred locations worth over PLN 2 billion, support for taxpayers from industries most affected by the pandemic in terms of the possibility to reduce the amount of property tax.
– Thank you very much for this yet another award. It pleases me above all because property tax is an area which seems to be narrow, but is extremely complicated by imprecise law. And this is not the end of the successes in this year’s poll of Rzeczpospolita. The ranking committee decided that Thedy & Partners should be awarded the first prize for obtaining breakthrough administrative court judgments.
– These are precisely the decisions of the Supreme Administrative Court (file numbers: II FSK 2830/20, II FSK 2831/20) on the overpayment resulting from the second and subsequent settlement corrections. So far, tax authorities have tried to refuse to initiate overpayment proceedings in such a situation. NSA challenged such practice. The court formulated unambiguous guidelines for all taxpayers, granting them the right to make numerous corrections to their settlements and submit subsequent applications for acknowledgement of overpayment, also after several years – e.g. as a result of the development of case law – explains Lesław Mazur.
The pool of awards for Thedy & Partners in this year’s Rzeczpospolita ranking is closed by an equally high, third prize for the Best Website in Poland. The editors evaluated as many as 55 websites and considered ours to be the one that should be on the podium.
