Only until tomorrow time for CIT for 2020
Corporate income taxpayers have until tomorrow, 30 June to file their CIT-8 return for 2020. As a rule, this is 3 months more than provided by the law.
Why this change?
– It is the effect of the coronavirus pandemic. The legislator, aware of the fact that entrepreneurs face the effects of COVID-19, decided to extend the deadline for the annual settlement with the tax office. Hence, the last day to fulfil this obligation for companies whose tax year coincides with the calendar year is 30 June instead of the last day of March. By tomorrow the tax return should be filed by legal persons and capital companies in organization, as well as organizational units without legal personality, except for unincorporated partnerships (i.e. civil partnerships, general partnerships, professional partnerships; in the 2020 return this also applies to limited partnerships and limited joint-stock partnerships). Such obligation also applies to non-corporate companies with their registered office or management board in another state, if under the tax laws of that state they are treated as legal persons and are subject to taxation in that state on their total income regardless of where it is earned. CIT-8 must also be filed by groups of at least two capital companies that have capital ties (so-called tax capital groups) – suggests Łukasz Kupryjańczyk, tax adviser and partner at Thedy & Partners.
At the same time, he adds that the annual CIT must be sent electronically and must be signed with a safe electronic signature verified with a certificate.
– 30 June is also the last moment to pay the due tax, if any will come out of the settlement, emphasizes Łukasz Kupryjańczyk.
