MF plans further preferences in connection with aid for Ukraine
The Finance Ministry reminded in the published communiqué what tax preferences can be used by taxpayers who engage in various forms of assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, it assured that it is working on extending them.
According to the ministerial information, the already existing preferences for donations made through non-governmental organizations or honorary blood donors will soon be joined by new ones. These include, among others, tax costs for companies which provide assistance through organisations. The regulations will also be more favourable for the beneficiaries – the aid they receive will be exempt from PIT and inheritance and donation tax.
Work is underway on solutions enabling recognition as tax deductible costs – both in PIT and CIT – of expenditures on the manufacture or purchase price of items and rights that are the subject of a donation in the period from 24 February to 31 December 2022 for purposes related to counteracting the effects of warfare on the territory of Ukraine given to: non-governmental organisations (also from Ukraine), local government units, the Government Strategic Reserve Agency, entities performing medical activity and in the field of medical rescue in the territory of Poland and Ukraine.
Expenses incurred on account of gratuitous benefits, i.e. free medical assistance for the benefit of non-governmental organisations will also be tax deductible.
According to the announcements of the Ministry of Finance, benefits received by Ukrainian citizens coming to Poland from Ukraine from individuals and companies will also be exempt from PIT. This concerns the tax, which the person receiving such a benefit is obliged to pay. Currently, it does not cover assistance received through non-governmental organisations (NGOs), but the tax must be paid when the support comes directly from an individual or entrepreneur.
