Extension of the list of medium-sized cities privileged to apply for investment tax relief
There is a project of changes in the regulation on public aid granted to some entrepreneurs for the realisation of new investments. It envisages a number of key changes for business within the Polish Investment Zone. One of them concerns the extension of the investment areas, preferentially treated when applying for the relief.
Preferences will be granted to additional 17 medium-sized cities and communes adjacent to the communes in which these cities are located: Głogów, Legnica, Świdnica, Świecie, Lubartów, Łuków, Łask, Opoczno, Lębork, Chojnice, Piekary Śląskie, Siemianowice Śląskie, Zawiercie, Ostróda, Iława, Chodzież, Stargard.
Cities losing their socio-economic functions are treated as areas with the highest unemployment. Locating an investment in this area will guarantee a lower entry threshold in terms of the declared eligible costs. For a large entrepreneur, depending on the level of unemployment in a given district, it currently ranges from 10 to 100 million PLN.
This is sometimes an insurmountable threshold, so lowering it to 10 million PLN opens up new investment opportunities for large companies in this area – comments Maria Zalewska, Project Manager at Thedy & Partners.
– As we read in the justification, there are many reasons to amend the said regulation, but one of the most important ones is the necessity to support business with dealing with the effects of the pandemic. It should be emphasized that the purpose of the amendment is right and it is worth supporting all investment initiatives of enterprises now – points out Maria Zalewska.
