FPG24.pl: Preparations for tax changes should begin immediately
Given the number of new regulations and their level of complexity, which, on the basis of the tax package of the Polish Deal, will come into effect as early as 1 January 2022, preparations for their application in companies should be started as soon as possible. Planned transactions or reorganisations may soon be subject to completely different tax treatment, and the choice of a given settlement method may be impossible. The FPG24.pl portal talks to Andrzej Kapczuk, tax advisor, partner in Thedy & Partners, about the most important tax changes coming with the Polish Deal.
From 1 January 2022, the amendment of many tax regulations under the Polish Deal will come into force. Some of them are truly revolutionary and it is impossible to discuss them all in one conversation. Can we list the solutions that taxpayers should know about as soon as possible?
Naturally. Indeed, there are many upcoming changes and it would be difficult to list them all in one conversation, but I will try to group them a bit.
The first group of changes concerns personal income tax and health contributions. Here we have the increase in the tax-free amount from the current PLN 8 000 to PLN 30 000, as well as the first tax threshold from the current ca. PLN 85 500 to PLN 120 000. On the other hand, the health contribution paid by taxpayers will not be tax deductible. In order to neutralise the negative impact of the latter change, a mechanism called the middle class relief has been introduced, which means that entrepreneurs settling according to the tax scale with an income up to ca. 133 000 PLN should not feel these changes. On the other hand, the changes will affect higher-earning employees, entrepreneurs and board members. A simplified calculation indicating who will gain and who will lose on the Polish Deal can be made using a calculator provided by the Ministry of Finance, which can be found at: www.podatki.gov.pl/polski-lad/kwota-wolna-polski-lad/kalkulator-wynagrodzen-polski-lad/
