The second day of the conference “Local taxes and charges – Toruń jurisprudence review” is underway
Toruń jurisprudence review conferences are one of the most important events of the year devoted to tax issues in jurisprudence, this time - local taxes and fees. The creator of these cyclical conferences, as well as their organizer is Wojciech Morawski, PhD, Professor of the University of Toruń. The conference takes place on 8-9 June and, due to the pandemic, has an online form.
Among the speakers of this event is Michał Nielepkowicz, tax advisor, partner in Thedy & Partners, who for years has specialised, among others, in real estate tax issues.
– The conference “Local Taxes and Fees – Toruń Jurisprudence Review” is devoted to many important problems in practice within the scope of application of regulations on local taxes and fees. This is a very important and necessary event for many reasons. First of all, the provisions on local taxes and charges, including real estate tax, are extremely defective, hence there are so many disputes between taxpayers and tax authorities. In particular, in many cases taxpayers overpay real estate tax and therefore are entitled to apply for a statement of overpayment. As a result, the jurisprudence here is very rich and still evolving. Therefore, detailed analysis and opportunities for discussion in this area are so necessary and important. Especially, that the conference will be attended by representatives of all circles: administrative court, science and doctrine of tax law, tax authorities and tax advisors who are taxpayers’ attorneys – comments Michał Nielepkowicz.
